HANDY TIPS FOR YOUR VISIT
We're always delighted to welcome guests to The Huff House! To ensure you make the most of your stay, we've pulled together some key information. As always, should you have any questions or issues during your stay, please do give us a buzz.
Accommodation
The Huff House can accommodate up to four guests between the master double bedroom and a comfortable sofa bed in the study.
We're sorry, but we are not welcoming pets at this time and while we love non-smokers, if you must smoke please use the sitty-ootery.
Parking & Access
Living on West Kilbride Main Street can be sometimes a challenge as regards parking – as it is all on-street parking.
The good news is that there are no parking wardens in North Ayrshire.
Limited waiting spaces and yellow lined can be used with impunity and so far there has never been an issue! However, if you're not feeling brave then drop your bags at the gate and find an unrestricted parking space.
Access is through the lane to the left of Smiths the Barbers. There is a gate at the entrance to the lane with a large brightly coloured shield on it.
If we have organised to meet you we will see you in the flat, if not there is a key box to the side of the outhouse door: the key box number will be provided before each visit. Open the key box, let yourself in and return the key to the key box.
Hanging on the coat hooks in the vestibule are two sets of key rings: Naughty & Nice. No offence intended.
Smart Home – All electric with Smart Wi-Fi controls.
Although the property did originally have gas, as part of the renovation we removed the gas supply and went all electric. This has allowed us to restructure the property without routing pipes and has helped maximise the space. Maybe we even went green!!
Going electric has also meant we have focussed on going Smart: Room Heaters, Immersion Heater, Under floor Bathroom Heater, Towel Rail, TV's, Smart Plugs, Alexas and Blink cameras are all Wi-Fi/App driven with manual overrides.
It's the way ahead, so they say – as long as it works.
WIFI Code & App info will be provided before each visit.
Garden
The Huff House has its own private and enclosed garden accessed directly from the front door.
2021 & 2022 saw us renovate and reinstate boundary walls and we removed a number of mature trees to make the garden light and spacious and to allow us to start planting out borders.
Fast forward to 2023 and we have renovated the outhouse, built new fencing and a roofed sitty -ootery, which also has lounge furniture and a Ninja Wood Fired electric BBQ. There is also a large picnic table with benches in the garden.
A rotary clothes dryer stored to the side of the garden is available – this has to be moved to the ground stake in the centre of the grass for drying clothes but there is a washing machine and dryer in the house.
The garden is an ongoing project with plans to create more social space and in due course build a summer house.
The ideal base to discover the landscape, history, lifestyle, sport and culture of Scotland's West Coast.
